About us
We are Missionaries of the Holy Family. The Holy Family is a model that characterizes our spirituality: The Incarnation of the Word of God and the hidden life of the Holy Family of Nazareth are inexhaustible sources of our spirituality.
The history of the Congregation begins in 1895 in the Netherlands, where it was founded by Fr. Juan Berthier. Word of the Holy Scripture: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, ask the owner of the harvest to send out workers to gather it in” (Mt 9:37-38), moved him deeply. We consecrate ourselves to God through public vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. We believe that God has called us to more closely imitate His Son Jesus Christ and we want to participate in His mission for the salvation of the world.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, we realize our charisma in three dimensions:
- Mission: We undertake an apostolate among all those who are far away and whom the Lord our God wants to call to Himself.
- Vocation apostolate: “The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few”… We take the vocation apostolate very seriously… and we try to recruit as many collaborators as possible for the mission of the Church.
- Pastoral care of families: The Christian family is a domestic church. According to the thoughts of our founder, Father Berthier, family pastoral care is also vocational pastoral care.
